We have had three cats that love camellia water. One of them would pull all of the camellias out so she had freer access to the water. Our current cat will jump up to wherever the floating camellias are, even if they are in a place where she has seldom, if ever, gone before. When we change the location of the camellia bowl, she quickly discovers the new location. We've always wondered whether the camellia water is harmful to cats, but we have never seen any signs of that.
I wondered the same thing and looked it up years ago. The cats love it and drink the water. We've never had a poisonous plant problem with an adult cat. Our yard has lilies and white oleander, etc. Watch kittens like human babies. Orlan tried biting Christmas lights when he was just over a year, still kittenhood for a Maine Coon Mix. I had no idea a cat would enjoy crushing glass in his mouth. He was fine, too.
