self-portraits

the cat and the bee
Somehow, I think I ended up looking tall and he ended up looking small in this photo.
Orlan has hip dysplasia; I diagnosed it.  I have to pick him up to let him drink water out of the bathroom faucet.  I have a step stool by my bed, so he can stretch up there to give me a hug.  I currently have some sort of strange pendulum movement in my torso, so I can no longer enjoy jogging.  Hopefully, this will resolve itself.  I hate seeing doctors.  I'm giving Olran some glucosamine and chondroitin supplements.

Christmas 2012

Me holding my nephew August on September 1.  This can be the Madonna and Child?
Anise cookies I improvised and Frenchafried.

I decorated the house with holly from the yard.

The earrings are a gift from my brother.  The are from Anthropologie.

Orlan received a new jacket for Christmas.  Ado just wants to go out.

The large Christmas tree I single-handedly decorated.

A couple days after coming home, I fit my smallest bras.

It is the first day of November and my marigolds are still blooming profusely.

Images to Accompany Half-Virtual Baby Shower

I am hosting a baby shower for immediate family only.  Since 3 (+ spouse) out of 5 siblings live in faraway areas of the country, we are sharing the party through Google Hangouts.  I'm uploading various images to help enhance the experience of the "virtual" participants.

The story goes that my mother went to the hospital to have me, but they sent her back home because she lived nearby and was only 4 centimeters dilated.  She went home and drank a bottle of apricot juice.  When she went back to the hospital, she was ready to give birth.  The nurse caught me before the doctor or my father were present.
